Welcome to Preschool

TEACHER: MRS. KATHY KIRK

Pre-K is such a special moment in time for your child. This is the first step for many children to experience  school. My goal is to facilitate a smooth transition from home to school and provide a fun-filled learning adventure. Together we will work to gradually guide the children as they develop socially, emotionally, and educationally. It's time to make friends, read stories, learn the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, sing songs, paint, play and much much more! Please keep in mind that all children develop at different stages and ages. Welcome to Pre-K !

Snack: Each day the children are to bring a healthy snack  along with a juice box or water bottle (with a pop up top not a twist off  cap in order to avoid any major spills) thank you.

Suggested Snacks: yogurt, fruit/vegetables, granola bars, pretzels, pudding, sugarfree jello, cheese & crackers, dry cereal, etc.

Please try to look at the nutrional value of the snack to enhance good eating habits.

Suggested Drinks: water with pop up lids not twist off caps, 100% juice boxes, and milk.

Candy, soda or any unhealthy drink or snack will not be permitted.Thank you for your kind cooperation.

February News:  Happy Ground Hog Day! ...This is Random Act of Kindness Month as well as Black History Month and President's Weekend ...Happy Valentine's Day!

Please feel free to send in Valentine cards for all of your friends. A list of names will be sent home. Thank you!

The students are now writing their first and last name independently. We have covered the letters A through L thus far. We are continuing to practice letter names and sounds. The children can  identify numbers one through ten as well as use one to one correspondence when counting items. The children are becoming stronger in their ability to trace and cut as they practice using scissors. Please continue to support your child's success in reading by reading daily and coloring in the February reading log. Reading is fun for everyone! Many thanks for your support of the program. Your time invested in your child's educational experience is truly appreciated.

Please note that we now open the side door in the morning at 8:20  upon arrival to school due to the change in weather elements. A teacher will be stationed there to let your child enter the building between 8:20 and 8:30. Bundle up, it's getting to look alot like winter. Brrrr

The children will be entering the school buiding via the side door right outside the pre-k classroom which is room #105. Please line up along the wall on the right side facing the entrance. We will greet you there each day. Upon picking up your child please step up to the door to announce yourself so that we may dismiss your child to you. If you are unable to pick up your child, please make sure you have listed with the main office any other individual that has your permission to pick up your child. If the person is not listed with the main office then your child will not be released to that individual until you have been contacted. A.M. students are dismissed at 10:55 and P.M. students are dismissed at 2:55 on full day schedules.

Please arrive on the first day with your backpack along with your snack, drink and napkin. Please label all items as many children have duplicate backpacks and lunch boxes.
